Wondering what’s open now in Thailand? This free tool helps you find attractions, temples, markets, museums, parks and viewpoints that are open in the destination you’re visiting.
Choose a city or island to explore the available opening hours, closing times and Google ratings. You can also filter places by how long they are expected to remain open and sort the results to suit your plans.
How to use the “What’s Open Now?” tool
The tool is designed to help you make decisions while you’re already in Thailand. Select your destination, then choose the type of place you want to visit.
You can search across six categories:
- Attractions
- Temples
- Museums
- Markets
- Parks and gardens
- Nature and viewpoints

Results are separated into places confirmed as open now, places that are closing soon, and places whose opening hours are unconfirmed.
You can choose a minimum amount of opening time remaining (30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours) and sort by relevance, Google rating, number of reviews or latest closing time.
Which destinations are covered?
The tool currently covers 14 destinations across Thailand. Some destinations also have a dedicated travel guide in English:
- Bangkok
- Pattaya
- Hua Hin
- Ayutthaya
- Chiang Mai
- Chiang Rai
- Kanchanaburi
- Phuket
- Krabi / Ao Nang
- Khao Lak
- Koh Samui
- Koh Phangan
- Koh Tao
- Hat Yai
How can you tell if a place is open right now?
The tool retrieves the information available through Google Maps when you run a search. Where opening hours are provided, it indicates whether a place is currently open and, when available, its next closing time.
You may see the following statuses:
- Open now: the available opening-hours data indicates that the place is open.
- Closing soon: the place is still open but approaching its stated closing time.
- Opening hours unconfirmed: the available information is not sufficient to confirm that the place is currently open.
When available, each listing also shows its Google rating and number of reviews. These can help you compare places, but a high rating does not guarantee that an attraction is suitable for your visit.
Why check how much time is left before closing?
A place can be open without being a practical option. For example, a temple closing in 20 minutes may not leave enough time for a proper visit, especially when you need to travel there.
Use the remaining-opening-time filter to show confirmed open places expected to stay open for at least:
- 30 minutes
- 1 hour
- 2 hours
This is especially useful in the late afternoon or evening, when opening times differ considerably between temples, markets, museums and attractions. Places with unconfirmed hours may still appear in a separate section; they are not treated as confirmed open by the filter.
How should you sort the results?
There is no single ranking that works for every situation. The tool offers several ways to organize the places returned by the search:
- Relevance: keeps the original relevance order of the results.
- Highest rated: highlights places with better Google ratings.
- Most reviewed: helps identify places with more visitor feedback.
- Latest closing time: useful if you’re looking for somewhere to visit later in the day.
Places that are closing soon and those with unconfirmed opening hours remain clearly identified, regardless of the sort order.
Are the opening hours up to date?
The tool requests the available information when you start a search. Results are therefore refreshed with each new search, but their accuracy depends on the details supplied through Google Maps.
Opening hours may change at short notice because of religious ceremonies, public holidays, maintenance, private events or temporary closures. Such changes may not immediately appear in the available data.
If a visit is particularly important or you’re arriving close to closing time, use the View on Google Maps link in the result to double-check the latest information before setting off. For ticketed attractions, checking the official venue website may also help.

Frequently asked questions
Is the tool free to use?
Yes. You can search directly on this page without creating an account.
What types of places can I find?
The search covers tourist attractions, temples, museums, markets, parks, gardens, nature areas and viewpoints, depending on the listings available for your destination.
Why do some places show “Opening hours unconfirmed”?
Some listings do not provide enough reliable opening-hours information. These places are displayed separately rather than being incorrectly labelled as open.
Why might an open attraction not appear?
The tool returns a limited selection of relevant results for each search. It is not a complete directory of every venue in a city or on an island.
Can opening hours change?
Yes. Public holidays, ceremonies, private events and temporary closures may affect opening hours. Always check again before making a special journey.
