Why Does the Weather Forecast Show Rain Every Day in Thailand?

The question

I am checking the forecast for my trip to Thailand and it shows rain or thunderstorms almost every day. Does that mean it will rain all day, or can I still expect periods of good weather?

Portail Asie answer

Seeing rain in the forecast every day does not necessarily mean continuous rain from morning to night. In Thailand’s tropical climate, a hot and sunny day can be interrupted by a heavy shower or thunderstorm and then become pleasant again afterwards.

This pattern is particularly common during the rainy season. Showers can be intense but relatively short and may occur mainly in the late afternoon or evening.

Instead of looking only at the daily rain icon, check the hourly forecast, expected rainfall amounts and any weather warnings. These give a much better idea of whether you are looking at a short tropical shower or a more prolonged period of bad weather.

Conditions also vary considerably between regions. The Andaman coast, Bangkok, northern Thailand and the Gulf islands do not always experience the same rainy periods.
