Why visit

Wat Arun is one of Bangkok's most recognisable landmarks, especially when viewed from across the Chao Phraya River. Up close, its intricate porcelain mosaics reveal details that are easy to miss from a distance. The temple also fits naturally into a sightseeing day with Wat Pho and the Grand Palace on the opposite bank.

Our tip

Dress respectfully and allow around 60–90 minutes to explore the temple rather than rushing through your visit.
